Job Overview

As a Qualified Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems across industrial, commercial, and public sector environments. Your role will involve working on a variety of projects, ensuring that all electrical work is carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will play a key role in maintaining the safety, functionality, and efficiency of electrical installations in diverse settings.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and Maintenance

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, conduit, lighting, and control systems in industrial, commercial, and public buildings.

Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and diagrams to determine the layout of electrical systems.

Install and maintain electrical equipment supplying motors, generators, transformers, and three-phase panels.

Perform routine inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Fault Diagnosis and Repair

Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment and techniques.

Identify and repair electrical faults efficiently to minimise downtime in industrial and commercial settings.

Conduct preventative maintenance to avoid system failures and ensure continuity of operations.

Compliance and Safety

Ensure all electrical work complies with current electrical regulations and safety standards.

Adhere to company safety policies and procedures working to detailed risk assessments and method statements (RAMs).

Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including service reports and safety documentation.

Project Management

Assist in planning and executing electrical projects from inception to completion.

Collaborate with other trades and contractors on-site to ensure coordinated and timely project delivery.

Manage time effectively to meet project deadlines and targets.

Customer Interaction

Liaise with clients and stakeholders to understand their electrical needs and provide solutions.

Offer expert advice on energy efficiency and system upgrades to enhance the performance of electrical installations.

Provide training or guidance to junior electricians or apprentices as required

Qualifications and Skills

Education: Relevant electrical qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, City & Guilds 2365).

Certification: Must hold a valid electrician's license or certification (e.g., JIB Gold Card).

Experience: Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as a qualified electrician in industrial, commercial, or public sector settings.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical systems, safety standards, and regulations (e.g., BS 7671).

Skills: Excellent troubleshooting skills, ability to work independently, and strong communication skills.

Tools: Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment and hand tools
